Academic Support for Teaching and Learning

Our seasoned team of academic practitioners offers systemic strategies to enhance effective teaching and learning.

  • Our partnership with you begins by reviewing the State Accountability System and ensuring alignment between the District and School systems. If we find any inconsistencies, we work together to address them, ensuring assessments support instruction. Following this, we coordinate assessment windows and timelines with PLCs and other teams to ensure timely instruction and assessment intervals for student mastery. We discuss reteaching strategies tailored to students' needs to maximize testing windows for adequate review. Our partnership involves ensuring accessibility, such as using clear language and providing navigation options for all students. We also review testing formats with your team, embedding them into everyday instruction. We support teachers in aligning classroom assessments with state formats and content. We also work with them to analyze data to identify struggling students and develop strategies to assist them. Additionally, we help teachers interpret data accurately and track instructional mastery within your faculty. We establish a systematic data review schedule to address gaps promptly, track students' progress by various metrics, and develop in-house tools for predictive analysis.

  • We'll assess computer-assisted learning at your school, ensuring it enhances student learning. Collaborating with planning teams to blend learning effectively, considering access to necessary tools and scheduling, we'll audit existing resources and promote cross-departmental tech opportunities. Our work with curriculum divisions will enhance content with available technology. We'll identify skilled teachers and build faculty capacity for engaging virtual classrooms. We'll assess technology needs, accessibility, and cross-platform availability, including identifying video resources to support the curriculum. We'll evaluate the school's implementation of the MTSS process for academics and behaviors across tiers. Working alongside teachers, we’ll develop planning that varies by tier, with accommodations tailored appropriately. We'll ensure teachers are fully cognizant of IEPs, mainly if they teach students from different groups, with particular attention to how IEPs should guide Tier 3 planning.

  • We start by looking at how lessons are planned, focusing on different groups like centers, small groups, and independent work. We also check Tier 1 School-Wide expectations and progress-tracking tools. We ensure these are well communicated across the school and monitor how instruction is planned. If there are any gaps, we address them.

We offer useful feedback on current practices and determine what steps to take next for improvement. We show the Instructional Leadership Team how to give feedback effectively and coach them on handling changes from old to new practices. We talk about how we give feedback can affect how it's received and acted upon. If needed, we help leaders shift the culture to welcome change. We also do calibration walks to ensure all school administrators are on the same page.

  • We'll work together to understand and define the roles, responsibilities, and key players within existing instructional support teams. We'll also examine their time, resources, communication methods, and decision-monitoring processes. Together, we'll develop a distributive leadership blueprint for instructional leadership in your school.

We'll clarify the purposes of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), focusing on planning, learning, implementing, and evaluating. We'll ensure a data-driven approach, consistently using data to set instructional goals. We'll establish clear expectations for teaching and learning and facilitate effective PLCs alongside school leadership.

We'll identify the most suitable protocol(s) to enhance instructional practices for your teachers, reviewing various options and selecting the best fit for each team. Using available learning data, we'll plan PLC focuses and explore ways to gather missing data.

We'll assist in developing or reviewing community agreements, emphasizing the importance of team norms and expectations for effective collaboration. We'll help establish a school-wide understanding of the significance of PLCs in promoting professional growth and student achievement.

We'll create a step-by-step process for using the selected protocol(s), including developing guiding questions. We'll provide coaching, modeling, and support to ensure successful implementation. Additionally, we'll collaborate with teams on ongoing PLCs to integrate them seamlessly into instructional planning practices.
